Pre-Foundation

The Pre-Foundation course covers the full Year 9 Victorian Curriculum, primarily for students currently in Year 8. By learning the content a year ahead, students build powerful fundamentals early, gain immediate confidence, and enter the next school year with a strong advantage.

Foundation

The Foundation course covers the full Year 10 Victorian Curriculum, typically taken by students in Year 9. Completing Year 10 mathematics a year early gives students a robust knowledge base and ensures a much smoother, less anxious transition into VCE-level mathematics.

Methods Extended

Methods Extended is our strategic 3-year program designed for students starting in Year 10. All VCE Mathematical Methods (Units 1–4) content is taught over a relaxed, deeper 2-year timeline. The final year (Year 12) is fully dedicated to SAC preparation, exam practice, and trial exams.

Methods Accelerated

Methods Accelerated is a focused 2-year program for students in Year 11. The full VCE Mathematical Methods (Units 1–4) course is completed over 1.5 years, with the remaining time devoted to consolidation, exam practice, and trial exams.

Specialist Accelerated

Specialist Accelerated is a challenging 2-year program for students in Year 11. It covers all VCE Specialist Mathematics (Units 1–4) over 1.5 years, with the final 6 months dedicated to advanced exam-style questions and trial exams.

Educator teaching students

Our 3.5-hour weekly cycle is designed for deep learning and long-term retention:

Core Concepts (2 hours) icon

Core Concepts (2 hours)

This is a deep dive into the theory, with clear, focused explanations and worked examples. Students understand the why behind the maths, not just the steps.

Applied Practice (1.5 hours) icon

Applied Practice (1.5 hours)

Held on a separate day, these sessions focus on critical problem-solving and exam-style questions to immediately lock the knowledge into application.

The Digital Portal icon

The Digital Portal

Every student receives a personal login to our online portal. If a class is missed, or if students need to stay on track between classes or revise for a SAC, lesson recordings and notes are always available and easily accessible.

All classes are conducted online, allowing students to learn from the convenience of their home while still engaging in real-time discussion, questions, and guided problem-solving.

Meet Your Tutor

Sandun - Founder and lead tutor

Lead tutor at ATAR Guide Tutoring

Hi, I'm Sandun

I grew up in Sri Lanka and later moved to Singapore and Melbourne to continue my studies. Moving between countries at a young age taught me a lot about adapting, rebuilding and pushing yourself outside your comfort zone.

I completed the UK Cambridge Advanced Level examinations in Sri Lanka, where I achieved the highest marks in the country for both Mathematics subjects in my examination year, as well as the highest overall A/L average nationally.

I went on to study Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore before completing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Modelling at Deakin University in Melbourne. Mathematics has always felt natural to me, not just because of the answers, but because of the clarity and structure behind it.

I began tutoring in 2012, initially helping friends and younger students. Over time, what started as something small became something I genuinely cared about. Since 2016, I have focused on VCE mathematics and have worked with students of different abilities, goals and learning styles. One thing I have always believed is that real understanding is far more powerful than memorisation.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing guitar and experimenting with music, even if I am a little rusty on the drums. I also have a strong interest in gemstones and jewellery design, and I am fascinated by the precision and craftsmanship involved.

At the end of the day, my goal is simple. I want students to feel confident in the way they think. Maths is just the medium through which that confidence is built.
